چکیده

Nowadays, renewable energy is a reliable solution for addressing global warming and fossil fuel depletion issues. Malaysia has an abundance of biomass resources currently underutilized to generate electricity, such as palm oil waste. Wastes from mill plant, empty fruit bunch (EFB), mesocarp fibre (PMF), kernel shell (PKS), are worth be investigated possible raw material co-firing with coal. The technique the low-cost risk approach utilization in electricity generation. This paper aims review perform comparative study on existing processes worldwide order explore potential using wastes To achieve successful coal, feedstock characteristics need understood before undergoing several pre-treatment options. It recommended implement waste coal because can reduce greenhouse gas, NOX, SOX. Co-firing coal-fired power plants one practical ways implemented it helps over-consumption fuels. Based findings, seems right track maximize use either standalone plant or plant. improved will further minimize negative impact gas emission untreated wastes.

Computational Fluid Dynamic Analysis of Co-Firing of Palm Kernel Shell and Coal

The increasing global demand for palm oil and its products has led to a significant growth in palm plantations and palm oil production. Unfortunately, these bring serious environmental problems, largely because of the large amounts of waste material produced, including palm kernel shell (PKS). In this study, we used computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to investigate the PKS co-firing of a 300 MW...

Acid Hydrolysis of Pretreated Palm Oil Lignocellulosic Wastes

Palm oil solid wastes consist of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. In this study, a single stage of acid hydrolysis process of palm oil empty fruit bunch (EFB) for production of fermentable sugar was carried out under moderate temperature (45°C) and ambient pressure. The effect of four different process variables such as solid size, HCl concentration, solid percentage and temperature were in...

Feasibility of Anaerobic Co-composting Empty Fruit Bunch with Activated Sludge from Palm Oil Mill Wastes for Soil Conditioner

Utilisation of palm oil mill wastes to make soil conditioner through anaerobic co-composting is feasible and has the potential to maintain the natural resources, and to reduce the impact on environmental quality in the future. Co-composting process uses pressed-shredded-grinded empty fruit bunch (EFB) with activated sludge (AS) from the pond system of a palm oil mill as a suitable option for or...

Palm Oil Mill Wastes Utilization; Sustainability in the Malaysian Context

Palm oil contributes about 19% of worldwide vegetable oil production with Malaysia accounting for over 50% of total production. Due to the global rise in crude oil prices, scientists have been forced to look for cheaper alternatives and palm oil has provided the right platform. This in turn led to an increase in the oil plantations and production in countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Tha...
